Hello all,

I am helping a friend that's currently in China in applying for a TRV to come to visit me in Vancouver for just under 2 weeks.

Trying to help her fill the forms that I got from online since the local visa application center doesn't provide that service, and unfortunately calling the CIC hasn't yielded any help. The rep just flat out refused to answer any questions and only said "I can forward you the instructions in an email." Well, I already had the instructions right in front of me and I had questions regarding them, but he just said that one sentence over and over again.

So I came across this forum, and tried to find answers to my questions through old threads - found a couple but still have a few questions regarding the application process itself.

1. When filling out form IMM 5257, it asks for contact information, would just a single telephone number along with email address suffice? I don't need to fill in all the possible options like 2nd line or fax right?

2. In the instruction guide IMM 5884 it mentions a proof of relationship with inviter. Now I am just friends with her so I cannot provide any official documents like a marriage certificate. Some people mentioned emails and photographs? We just have some pictures on the phone of when I visited China a few months ago. Every other communication was via instant messaging. So what would she need to provide there?

3. For the passport and photos, if I apply online for her here in Canada, how would CIC ask for those items? By notifying after the application is submitted for her to bring those items to the visa office or the closest visa application center?

4. Proof of financial support, likely the title to her property and bank statements, those are in Chinese, do those need to be translated or just scanned as is?

Thanks!

3) After submitting the form online, the applicant will received an email from the relevant visa office requiring the applicant to provide other document such as passport

4) Yes translate them in English or French

Although the local visa application centre doesn't have online services, the applicant can always go there in person for enquiries, submit their applications and make payments in cash (in Chinese yuan). I wondered why your friend wouldn't go there by herself.
