Hi all, looking for some guidance! I've read a number of threads on the topic of landing but had some additional questions. My wife (Canadian citizen) sponsored me outbound. We both live in the USA and planned to return to Canada this year, so we submitted my application in January. However, in March, I received notice that I had gotten my dream job (after 3 years of trying for it and hearing nothing - go figure), so we've decided to stay in the States for another two years, but in the meantime, I've got my CoPR and need to land. My understanding is that I'm ok to make a short trip overnight trip there and can have my PR card sent to my in-laws' Canadian address, however, I'm having trouble with the goods-to-follow list. For example, I know we'll be importing my wife's car back into Canada that she imported from Canada when she moved here, but my car's on its last legs and I may need to buy a new one in the next few months that I'd hate to have to sell again in less than 2 years when we move. For other things, ie. books, household goods, etc. is there a monetary value at which I have to describe each individual item? For example, do we have to list every book in our collection that we'll be bringing back, or is "books" sufficient? For paintings that have no value (because I painted them myself!), how do I list those items?

My other big question is: how does it work for my wife when we move back? Ie. if I present a goods-to-follow list now at landing, then can any big items that we purchase between now and when we actually move back be put on her list separately at that time? Or does the list I'm submitting at this time apply to both of us?

Appreciate any advice! I've read that some people have successfully avoided presenting the goods-to-follow list upon soft landing on the grounds that they're not "settling" at that time, but it seems like luck-of-the-draw as to whether the officer you get will allow that, so I want to be prepared.
