Hi, has any H1b holder done soft-landing in Canada while traveling from India and then gone on to the US (on H1B)? Is this option possible?

The IRCC website says "must settle permanently" but also reading about people doing soft-landing and returning the same day to the US. Is soft landing only allowed from the land route but not the air route?

But the ban has not yet lifted, How would it be possible when no direct flights from India? Did you forget to take into account of the 3 days mandatory quarantine?

I can transit to canada through a third country like qatar/maldives/mexico (which are open to indian travelers).

But same day to the US would not be possible until later this month.

Just so I'm not confusing folks with my question, this is what I'm wondering, if this is allowed?

Currently in India >>> Third country that's open to vaccinated travlers for 3 days >>> Landing in Canada, spend 10 days >>> Head to US on H1B

Negative PCR required in the third country. Also, prepare your quarantine plans to CBSA and they may conduct random arrival test.

Technically you must be moving permanently to Canada but many have gotten away with it.

Hi Guys, i have received my CoPR yesterday which is valid till 3-March-22. I am confused and seeking inputs if soft landing is allowed as of now i.e. we go there and stay for say few days/weeks and come back to wrap up the things for final movement. Please share inputs in case you are aware.

Dont rely on forum as rules change all the time.
Just refer the notifications and plan accordingly. https://travel.gc.ca/travel-covid/travel-restrictions/covid-vaccinated-travellers-entering-canada
