Soft landing - Expired F1 Visa

Hi,

Currently my spouse is on H1B Status but never had visa stamping done for that class. He has only F1 stamping.

Is it okay for using AVR option since he never had H1B stamping done?

If okay, can we provide relative's address for PR Card and can we travel back to USA after staying couple of days?

How does the AVR work? Did you have to tell them anything specific?

And did you do your soft landing by road?

AVR worked flawlessly. I simply informed the airline as I was checking in (I couldn't check in online) that I wanted to apply for AVR, and they took some time (about 20 minutes) to confirm with immigration, but after that it was a smooth journey. I did softlanding via air.
