Hi,

Does anyone have any experience with applying for a social insurance number right after landing when applying though the Ottawa VO? On the Social insurance website it says that if your visa was processed in Canada then you need a PR card to apply for a social insurance number.
My application was sent to Buffalo but was completely proccessed in Ottawa. Does that mean that I will have to wait for the PR card to arrive to apply for my Social number?

Thanks,

Mocool

Ottawa is considered "outside" of Canada according to CIC. So you can get it the day you land.

It should not matter which VO office processed your case.As soon as you land as PR you can apply and get the SIN right away at the Service Centers...Good luck
