Hi all,
Asking a question on behalf of a friend. Well, they didn't ask me to, I'm just nervous for them.
My friend (an American) recently received her permanent residence (a few months ago) under the Famly Class as a spouse. She is being sponsored by her husband, who is from Quebec.
He was laid off from his job and began receiving government assistance. Not long after, he got another job, but just quit again and is about to file for social assistance again (a different kind this time, I believe it's called EI).
My question is basically does any of this actually sound like it could be a problem for them? I thought that a sponsor couldn't receive social assistance of any kind for the length of the application and the follow three years.
Any kind of insight would be helpful.
Thanks!
J
