Hi, Guys,
I have a question regarding to the definition about social assistance by IRCC. The government's explanation is as below link. I am currently living in Calgary, Alberta. I am planning to sponsor my wife in-land. She is under visitor visa. I have high ongoing prescription drug needs so I am planning to apply Alberta Adult Health Benefit which covers prescription drugs, dental care, eye exams and so on. This benefit is for low-income family. It is a kind of extension plan for the provincial standard healthcare plan. Since I am currently unemployed, I think I am qualify for this benefit. So I want to ask if this is regarded as social assistance. By the definition below, this benefit is very similar to the saying 'health care not covered by public health care (extra benefits paid by the government to low-income people or others in need)'.
Hope you guys could offer me some advices. Thank you very much.

What is considered social assistance
Some benefits (money, goods or services) from provinces or territories are considered to be social assistance for the purpose of sponsoring. This includes assistance from the government to cover basic needs like:
food
shelter
clothing
fuel
utilities
household supplies
health care not covered by public health care (extra benefits paid by the government to low-income people or others in need)
