I'm accounting graduate with diploma right now.

And according to that, I should be under Skill Level B - college or vocational education.

So that means that I should be working under skill level 2 or 3??

But all accounting jobs are under the skill level 1..

I can't figure out how I should match the alphabetical skill level with numerical ones.

Please help..

The only occasion you look at the first digit of the NOC code is if it is 0 because that means skill type 0, management job. For example:

0111 Financial managers

Other than that, you look at the 2nd digit:

1111 Financial auditors and accountants
1311 Accounting technicians and bookkeepers
1431 Accounting and related clerks

If the 2nd digit is:

0 or 1 = Skill level A job
2 or 3 = Skill level B job
4 = Skill level C job (semi-skilled)
6 = Skill leve D job (low skilled)

To figure out which NOC your job falls under, read the descriptions at http://www5.hrsdc.gc.ca/noc/english/noc/2011/Occupations.aspx?val=1 The job duties are more important than the title.

Your diploma or degree is irrelevant in determining the skill level - only the job matters.

In addition to the info that Leon has posted, you can look at the Skill Matrix here -
