Hello, everyone. Does anyone know the processing time for SINP Student Category? I will apply on November 2011 but my work permit will expire on August 2012. Do they process it right away or they process it when my expiry is near? Any reply is highly appreciated. Thanks a lot in advance.

Hi Tindaqureshi..

I think you are in the same situation as me. My wife's application for OWP was refused one month back with reason that Spouses of PGWP holders cannot get an OWP. We called CIC and they said that if you reapply with your job letter showing that although you are on PGWP but you are employed at skil level A,B or 0 then your spouse can get the OWP. Instead of reapplying we went to get the process done at the border as my spouse if from a visa exempt country. At the border the immigration officials granted my spouse the OWP valid till expiry of my WP.

I hope our experience helps you. btw we talked to an immigration lawyer before doing this and he was very helpful. I would suggest talking to a lawyer (not consultant) before you decide.

Good luck!

Hi Arsenal,

Thanks for the reply. His company is now working on his LMO but i doubt that it will be positive because it is in retail industry. Our 2nd option is Restoration of Status Visitor. It's a great news that your spouse got the OWP in the border but my husband is not from visa-exempt country. Is there any chances that he will also get approved at the border? And do you know any websites where I can read the procedures on how to apply OWP at the border? Thanks for the reply.
