SINP-Employment Offer

HI,
My organization has initiated my Job Approval Letter (JAL) process. While I was creating a profile on SINP portal, question was asked "Do you have at least one year experience in last 10 years in your intended occupation". My intended occupation is Mechanical Engineer and I have seven years of experience (outside Canada) but all that is prior to 2015. Since then, I was student (April 2015 to April 2024) in last nine years (doing my masters and PhD), however, I have cumulative one year part-time working experience as Teaching Assistant (TA) in Canada.

My questions are:

1- Should I show all my working experience (both part-time and full-time) starting from 2008?
2- Can I use my TA experience (which is different NOC than my intended one) to satisfy the requirement of one year experience in last 10 years.

All other requirements such as IELTS, WES, and EIT has already been completed.

Your expert opinion will be highly appreciated.

What stream are you applying for? Studied in Saskatchewan? Usually experience during studies do not count.

1. For SINP, last 10 years.
2. Depends on the stream you are eligible for.But No to the question - Do you have at least one year experience in last 10 years in your intended occupation. Unless you do since 2014.

Yes, I studied in Saskatchewan for 5 years. I am applying for "International Skilled Worker - Employment Offer". In last 10 years I worked until April 2015, which is less than 1 year (if I count from September) afterwards I was full time student until April 2024.

So you need one year of experience in your intended occupation for one year. So a year of experience between August 2014 and today. So that is a requirement.

Why are you not applying under the Skilled Worker with Existing Permit stream? If you have JAL then you work for the employer to get the experience. If M.Eng then assume you are licensed too.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, I have EIT license. I have not yet completed 6 month with my employer and for "Skilled Worker with Existing Permit" I think I need to work for 6 month before applying. I am not sure whether I can apply before that or not. If I wait for 6 month to complete my JAL may expire. That is why I was wondering if I can use my part-time experience in another NOC to apply now.
What is your opinion? Should I apply now by selecting " I have worked for 6 month with my employer" although I have completed 3 months only.

For the stream you want the rules are clear, one year of experience in the last 10 years in your intended occupation. You cannot answer yes to the question about working for employer for 6 months that would be misrepresentation.
