Hi Friends,

My two years of IEC experience will be completed in January 2020 and it will enhance my score up to 461 however under the current scenario this score is not a good option. I am thinking of applying the PR as a single application which will boost my score to 478 and I will get the PR without any issue.
In Canada, I am currently accompanied by my spouse and daughter. My spouse is in the dependent open work permit which is valid till 2022.
Can I still apply as a single applicant?
If I can, then will my wife and daughter need to go back to my home country or they can stay with me?

Thanks for your help!!

Regards
Sanjib

1. You cannot apply as "single," you have to be married and declare that your spouse and child are non-accompanying.

2. If they're in Canada, they're accompanying you.

Thanks for your reply. I heard that during the application, I can actually choose as a married but a single applicant and spouse still can accompany me. Is that then not true?

You can apply as married but with spouse unaccompanying. However, IRCC will likely ask you to explain why your spouse is not accompanying you and when you explain that it is because they are already in Canada, there may be complications.

Basically, if you plan to have your spouse accompany you, don't lie about it.
