Simple question for experts

Hi everybody,
am intending to apply for a visitor visa and as i read it can be online and in person .My question here is which one has a faster processing time,more chances and finally less faulty during documents delivery.
My second and last question is beside letter of invitation do i need a cover letter written by me.

1 - processing time varies depending on the visa post. I do not believe it really depends if you applied online or through a VFS center
2 - i think chances of getting an approval does not really depend on the method of submission (it however seems online applications gets better chances based on peoples comments on the site)

if you apply online, i believe the initial decision to proceed with your application is done in Ottawa. passport could be requested (this does not mean approval) and then forwarded to your local CHC who then contacts you for other documents if needed and ultimately makes the final decision.


3 - you could write a cover letter to strengthen your application but a cover letter from your host will also go a long way
