Most folks who got a rejection, got it within the first couple of weeks after AOR. A few got it 2-3 months after AOR (like Asivad Avad, over a technicality). My question is to those who got a rejection late in the process: did your background go in progress before you got rejected? Or did you get rejected while the background check was still "not stared"? Someone casually mentioned that rejections after a background has started is extremely rare, but I thought i'd ask folks who have had the misfortune of experiencing it.

If you indeed got rejected after your background check went to 'in progress', please share the reason.

Appreciate the feedback - if any.

I think it depends on the category.

CEC, PNP and INLAND FSW BG goes in progress very quickly after submission. I believe within these categories there are many people who had rejections later on in the process with BG in progress.

FSW Outland as a category has had BG in progress very late in the process close to DM/PPR. I don't remember reading any rejection for outland group after BG went in progress.

Just my 2 cents based on wasting several months reading on the forum :D

Happy to be proven wrong!

Thanks hotshot007 for your input.. I agree with you about FSW outland having their BG check start very late in the process (usually 1-6 weeks from the date of DM, depending on unknown factors, possibly citizenship and/or country of residence mostly). From what I've been reading as well, FSW inlands do get their background check started quite early (possibly because CIC agents have to make several calls and check ups, since most documents provided by applicant was generated by a Canadian institution).

I hope you're right my friend.. I hope that for FSW outland, if BG starts, it means they're just making sure that your documents can pass the litmus test (i.e. PCC's, translations, financial and education documents look authentic). I asked Asivad Anac about this in the "Thank you Asivad Anac" thread, because he got a refusal in the summer about 15 weeks post AOR. And since he's an outland, he can attest to whether BG had started or not before getting the refusal letter. Hopefully when he's back from vacation, he'll let me know. Thanks again!
