Hi all,
Its been 3 months since one of our family members passport got expired and also that we have applied for Canadian citizenship in Nov'19 & still under processing.
My basic understanding is that we need to still renew our Indian passport regardless. Right?

You have to renew only if you have travel plans. However, it is recommended to do it to avoid last minute hassles in case of emergency.

Yup, you can still renew your Indian passport up until the point you take the oath of citizenship. However, if you do NOT have immediate travel plans, you generally don't have to renew your passport but as the OP mentioned, you might want to consider doing it in case you want to travel because of an emergency.
