Should the .pdf forms be printed, signed, and then scanned?

Hi everyone,

I have made a MyCIC account and I see that they are asking for all these IMM forms that I have to go search for and sign by hand when filled out. Is it expected to sign the IMM files like passport for example and upload? I thought there is a digital way of using the CIC forms.

Sign like passport? Passport should not be signed, it should only be scanned.

If you can't sign it digitally then you need to sign it manually and scan.

By signed I mean all the IMM files like the Relatives Form, Representative Form, or any other form that one has to fill out for Super Visa requires a signature at the bottom. I thought this is a totally digital process where you file everything online or digitally sign it. I guess not?

If you're applying online you don't need to sign them. You sign electronically at the end of the process by checking a box!

Thanks for clarifications. I am just looking at IMM5645E and there is no checkbox for signature. Am I looking at wrong forms?

It is section "D Certification" in the last page (it is not a checkbox, it is a section).

Print it, then fill it in, sign it and upload it.

Now you are confusing me. The only document you don't have to sign is the main application, ALL OTHER DOCUMENTS have to be filled-printed-signed-scanned-uploaded.

We already stated that NO the process is NOT COMPLETELY DIGITALIZED.

Jalex23, this is not true at all! Wow, don't mislead the guy so bad!
It is clearly explained in a straightforward manner that all of the IMM forms are filled out directly in the file and then digitally signed in the end. Including the Family information form (IMM5645E). You are not supposed to print, manually fill out and manually sign ANY of them. It is all digitally signed in the end, when you are submitting the final version of your app to CIC (as lellen already said). You'll be asked to digitally sign the whole application at once at that point - not individual parts of it. The only parts of the application that have to include manual signatures, are scanned statements by other individuals or bodies, provided to you. This would be the invitation letter for instance. Or letters from your employer, including the company stamp and an authorised signature.

Sorry but no. CIC's instructions are to sign electronically all applications not all forms. The only application is IMM5257, all the other are forms (a form is not the same as an application). http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?q=740&t=23

Spoke to CIC in this regard and they explained even though they could let pass any unsigned FORMS it was advisable to sign them. The reason behind not doing this with the APPLICATION is because validations are made when uploading the APPLICATION which would fail if a scanned copy was sent.

So YES you MUST sign all forms and NO you MUST not sign the application. The application is signed when submitted.


This is the way I have had approved 3 TRV for myself and 3 for family/friends.

So, to finish this thread, other than application IMM5257, all other forms including representative, relatives, etc...forms must be downloaded, signed by hand and then uploaded.
