Should I voluntarily cancel my PR status

My whole family landed in Canada in Oct/10. Since I cannot get a job in Canada, I went back to my place of birth and now I am not able to fulfill the residency requirement for PR. My family (daughter + wife) stayed in Canada and plan to apply for citizenship in Aug/16. We bought a house in Canada and I plan to rejoin them few years later after I made more money now.

I do have a dilemma: (1) shall I cancel voluntarily my PR status through CIC website or (2) I should simply keep my PR as I plan to re-unit with my family few years later. I also envisaged that when I visit my family in Canada, I may be refused entry into Canada. I hold British citizen passports.

Kindly advise (1) or (2) is better course of action to go forward.

2nd option is better. They can apply for your on family sponsorship after they receive their Citizenship, or once your PR expires. You can apply for tourist visa later after your PR has expired so you can meet them often in between (but you will have to show strong ties to your country i.e. UK in order to satisfy the Canadian officials to give you a visa). I believe you'd get a visa on arrival since you are a british citizen.
