Hi,

I'm a recent graduate and applying for PGWP soon.

I've been doing interviews lately and was wondering if it's necessary to tell them about my immigration plan before signing the offer in case they have to support me sorting out documents.

For example, I'm planning to immigrate through tech pilot program in BC PNP.

Since I will have 3 years open work permit via PGWP, I presume they do not need to sponsor me for Visa or go through LMIA or anything.

That said, I found out that to get a BC PNP nominee, the company would still fill out some documents and communicate with the gov.

Is it something that I must negotiate before signing the job offer though?

Is it possible that they will say no later on if I hadn't told them initially?

I'm just being careful about telling them about this because it might scare them away.

What should I do?

Also, does anyone know if tech pilot program will be extended again?

Thanks.

If you're brave enough to negotiate for it, why not. In my personal opinion, you shouldn't.

Or perhaps do it on a case to case basis. If it's a small company and you get the sense the employer is nice and flexible, maybe you can mention it. For big companies with different divisions and what have you, maybe not.

Besides, three years is a long time. Maybe your plans will change then. Maybe something will happen with the company.

Thanks for your input.

Yes, I'm pretty torn about this as well.

Is it pretty common for companies to flat out say no when the employees ask HR about PNP nomination?

I just feel like I don't have enough information to think about this.

Do you think that it would also work if I don't mention it upfront but ask them later about it to give them more time to evaluate my worth?

I tried to get other people's input as much as possible, but nothing really comes up when I search this up about it.

From my experience, the question that usually comes up in interviews is what your status is in Canada. Most of the time, they assume you have legal status. And they’ll figure out your status anyway based on your SIN.

I’m not as familiar with the BC PNP requirements. But if they’re not as intrusive and you’re a good employee, I’m sure a reasonable employer would be willing to help you down the road.
