Should I retake IELTS or file EOI ?

Hi Guys,

I've scored overall 8 bands in IETLS, and individually L:8.5, R:8.0, S:8.0 & writing 6.5 and based upon that have managed to score only 408 points on the CRS calculator. I took writing lightly even on the day of my exam and it has reflected badly on my performance.

What do you guys suggest, should I retake IETLS and again aim for scoring atleast 7 in writing or should I go ahead and file my EOI ? I'm pretty sure if i resit, I'll score a minimum of 7 which will bump up my score to 456.

Never knew a deficit of 0.5 would hurt that much .. emotionally & financially both!!

Hi,
Firstly, I'd suggest you create your EE profile and enter the pool, if you haven't already done it yet.
As of now, EE being unpredictable, you MIGHT get ITA based on your 408 CRS. Recently, we've seen 415.

Secondly, if you have confidence that you had written well enough to score 7 in writing, then you should go for EOI. Since your speaking is very good, you may get 7 in W, too.

If you are sure not to get 7 in W in this exam, then you should go for re-taking IELTS. Since you are confident enough, you surely can get higher bands next time.

This is purely my view, my friend. It's your own choice.
