Should I renew my passport?

Hi all,

My wife and I got the Express Entry invitation (ITA) in January and the status is still In Progress. My wife just finished her two-year college here in Canada and is about to apply for a Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP). The issue is her passport expires in December this year. Should she renew it before applying to PGWP?

If she renews the passport, what is the process to update the Express Entry information? Would this delay the evaluation?

If she does not renew it, would the PGWP validity be limited to her current passport expiration date?

Renewing passport take 2-3 weeks max. I'd say renew it. In case you receive PPR while waiting for Passport you can email CPC Ottawa to get an extension if needed. Hope this helps.

I would agree with previous poster - renew the passport as yes, her PGWP will only be valid to the expiry date on her current passport. Once the new passport has been rec'd, raise a CSE and attach a copy of the bio page of the new passport (we had to do the same thing for my husband and it didn't affect the processing time of our application)
