Hi

I am working on submission for my personal items transportation with 3 international transporter (probably will be shipped by container)

One of them tell me that I have to be present at the custom when my items will arrive.... WOW I am surprised... I will be living in Quebec at 800km distance from Montreal port (custom) So a bit impossible for me to be there. Does someone can explain me if it is possible or if this transport company is just not professional and does not know how to do things

Thanks in advance

I don't think the transportation company is referring you to be present at the port, but rather at a CBSA office somewhere in the province of Quebec. From my experience, I can either handle the custom clearance myself or appoint the transport company to do it for me.

Our container arrived on the east coast of Canada (Montreal I think) and was sent onward by rail. We met the shipment in Vancouver (West coast) to clear customs.
