Hi
My husband holds a valid PR card till Jan 2018. Currently he is in India and planning to fly to cananda in May 2016. In order to join him and pursue a course there can I apply for student visa for a sept 2016 intake and later convert it into a dependent visa? I am a post graduate with 6 years of work experience in India, I also wish to understand if I am eligible to apply for student visa.

Expert pls advice on for which visa do I apply to.

Thanks

You don't qualify for a dependent visa. Dependent visas are only for spouses of foreign workers or international students. Since your husband is a PR, you don't qualify. Your husband can sponsor your for PR - however he must be living in Canada to do so.

Sure - you can certainly apply for a student visa. Whether you will be approved is another matter and none of us here can tell you for certain. To be approved, you will have to show you have enough funds to pay for tuition and living expenses, you will need to pick a course that makes sense in light of your previous experience and education, and you'll need to demonstrate you have strong ties to your home country and have no plans on remaining in Canada long term.
