I plan to land in Vancouver and stay for 2 weeks. Then I want
to go back to my home country to come back again after 6 months.

I came across a settlement agency that says will have a mailbox
for me and forward all my mails to my home country.

Is it a good idea to hire such service? Honestly, I don't have much choice.

The agency, however, is asking for $750.00 (that includes mail forwarding and
hotel/motel selection as well as help with applying for SIN etc.). The price looks
prohibitive.

Could someone please suggest an economic service provider who will forward your mails (permanent
resident card) to overseas address?

Thank you

Well since CIC won't send PR cards to commercial or PO Box addresses, it won't do you much good.

Thanks for your response. In that case I would like to stay long enough, up to 3 months,
so that I can get my permanent resident card in hand.

Q1. Could someone please suggest an economic place to stay for 3 months. I will be landing in
Vancouver but have no friends or relatives in Canada. I also don't want to lease for 6 months.

Q2. How long (days, weeks?) after my landing do I have to call the CIC call center to update
with an address where to send the card?

Q3. How long does it take to receive the card in Vancouver?

CIC says it takes them 30 days to send the card after you give them an address. So the sooner you give them an address, the sooner you'll get the card. Sometimes it takes a bit more than 30 days though.
