Short landing - Driver license app recommended ?

Dear

I have all necessary documents to apply for G (final and complete) driving test directly -- if i pass and am given a G drivers license, normally what is the validity on this ?

Is it recommended to get one, even though currently im coming for 2 months short landing ?
