Short forms for schools/company names, is that okay?

Hello

Is it okay to use short forms for names of institutions or companies where the forms ask for the names of institutions and workplaces? For example, I tried to fit Institute of Engineering in one box but it didn't fit. So I put in Inst of Engineering. Is that okay or would CIC prefer the full name? I called CIC twice asking this question. One agent said provide full names and another said it is okay to use short form as long as it is understandable. What do you guys suggest??

I don't see it as a big deal. As long as it's understandable, I don't think they would make a big issue out of it.
However, if you don't feel secure having the short name, you can always put a note on a difference piece of paper.
