Hello everyone

really need help with the application of my wife. I'am German but She needs Visa because She is Turkish Citizen. Though we live in Switzerland and she got permanent residency of switzerland she still needs visa for canada.
The Cruise Route is starting from germany , transit canada and ending New York USA


The Itinerary: only one day 2014-09-17 arrival 2:00 PM departure 6:00 PM Port at St. John's
then 2014-09-19 arrival 8:00 AM and departure 6:00 PM Port at Halifax

then we are off to USA .

1) But i guess 48-h Transit will not work right ? Is there Transit Visa for more than 48 Hours ?

2) In my personal checklist supporting document list they want Letter of Support ? Being on a Ship Cruise its impossible to get such document ? But i fear the application gets rejected immediately because documents are not complete ?

3) Proof of Financial Resource of Supporter . How do i get bank statements, tax reports get translated ?

4) Proof of Means of Financial Support. How do i get that document ?

Please someone can help me because i really dont know what to do next ?

More than 48 hours is not transit.

Letter of Support of what, from whom? What's the full name stated on the checklist? If given any description please provide them.

3) Proof of Financial Resource of Supporter . How do i get bank statements, tax reports get translated ?

Your bank should be able to do so if not then a notarized translator.

4) Proof of Means of Financial Support. How do i get that document ?

A letter of employment, her contract, etc.


I get the filling that she is your dependant.... if so you are not giving us enough details to help you.

Well i did eligible to apply check for my wife. I got a personal checklist code looks like QK4350881372.

There is a list of Supporting Documents they want:

Letter of Support
Itinerary, Travel
Family Information (IMM5645)
Proof of Financial Resource of Supporter
Purpose of Travel - Other
Proof of Means of Financial Support
Passport or travel document
Digital Photo
Travel History


Thats it no Details. She is housewife and has no contract. What do i do now . The Letter of Support makes no sense for someone being on a ship cruise ? I really dont have more info. She is my wife and she is housewife and we have 2 children. She got from last ship cruise US Visa still valid for another 9 years and she got many fresh visas in her passport from countries such as israel, dubai uae etc...

please tell me what exact info i can give you that helps to progress ?

Now, this was important and is a game changer.

And there is a [?] just by the document on the checklist. There are always descriptions available.

It is the other way, you should give us all info you think is relevant. Kids and not having a job is an obvious example. Think of any like those? Then share them.

There is a list of Supporting Documents they want:

Letter of Support - Explain your case. I need a visa for bla bla, my intentions in canada are bla bla bla, I am a housewife bla bla, etc. Be concise, clear, and don't write the story of your life.
Itinerary, Travel - The itinerary of the cruise.
Family Information (IMM5645) - Fill it
Proof of Financial Resource of Supporter - Bank statements (in english) of you
Purpose of Travel - Other - Cruise info
Proof of Means of Financial Support - Bank statements (in english) of her (if you share an account then show that one).
Passport or travel document - scan the passport
Digital Photo - take an ePicture
Travel History - enumerate your travel history.

Since my wife is unemployed and housewife, you can imagine you see on her bank statement not much. I can transfer a larger amount no problem. But does that help ? Either way it looks not helpful for her application ? Please advice ?

That is expected, you are saying that she is your dependant.

I would also explain in the support letter this. How do you give her money on a daily basis? Is she an authorized user of your account? Then prove that with a bank statement or contract.

i get afraid since i have same situation. How do i avoid this situation exactly ? i can go to my bank and get for my wife account share , but will that solve anything ?
