Hi Experts/ EE Gurus.
I am in the process of submitting my Express Entry profile & facing some doubts :'(
Although senior forum members have helped me on my doubts but as I received contradictory views thus, I am posting all my doubts here :

1. EDUCATION HISTORY- regarding
==========================
My wife (Primary Applicant) has done Bachelor of Arts (BA)- 3 years & Master of Arts(MA) - 2 years which has been evaluated by WES as Bachelors degree(3 years) and Bachelors degree(4 years) respectively. Her CANADIAN EQUIVALENCE SUMMARY is "Bachelors Degree(4 years)"

So while filling Express Entry profile:
  • For BA degree, I mentioned "3 years" Completed/ Full academic years, "Bachelor Degree" as Level of Education and then "Bachelor degree" as CANADIAN EQUIVALENT (WES Verdict). At last, I added this degree.
  • For MA degree, I mentioned "2 years" Completed/ Full academic years, "Masters Degree" as Level of Education and finally "Bachelor degree" as CANADIAN EQUIVALENT (WES Verdict) At last, I added this degree also

Did i fill correctly (in view of the suggestion of forum experts that I should not avail "Two or more degree...." ) ?

2. WORK HISTORY- regarding
======================
Primary applicant has worked from 2008-2011 in Company A and from 2011-2016 in Company B.
In Express Entry, considering only 3+ work experience fetch maximum points ( & we have already made 70+ points in FSWP) then whether is it worth giving details of Company A ( as later on Letter of reference needs to be arranged in that case) ?
Should not I only mention the details of Company B? Please suggest.

Primary Applicant is Working as Assistant Professor (English) in a "college" under University of Delhi so can she select NOC 4011 which has similar job responsibilities but not exact job grades ( I was expecting college professor) - Job grades of 4011 are English professor – university, University professor, lecturer- university, University professor-English, English professor-University etc.......
Can she use 4011 considering similar job responsibility not in a University BUT at a college under a University??

Secondary Applicant has experience only in India (no canadian Experience). Considering there are no extra points for Indian experience for Secondary Applicant so whether should I mention at all about anything regarding work experience of secondary experience? In case I decide to mention, then whether secondary applicant also have to arrange "Letter of Reference" from employer???. Please mention.

I think you did because of the following:

ECA assessment results:

A three-year or more certificate, diploma, or degree

PLUS any of the results in the sections below (not including secondary/high school), or:

Post-Bachelor's Certificate
Post-undergraduate certificate
Post-Bachelor's Diploma
Post-undergraduate diploma
Graduate Certificate
Graduate Certificate with a focus in [area of concentration]
Postgraduate certificate
Postgraduate Diploma
Graduate Diploma with a focus in [area of concentration]
Graduate diploma
two-year Postgraduate Diploma, specializing in [name of discipline]
two-year Bachelor’s after degree with a focus in [area of concentration]
one-year Postgraduate Certificate in [name of discipline]
one-year of graduate study with a focus in [area of concentration]
Study Toward a Master's Degree
2. WORK HISTORY- regarding
======================

On this one, I think its worth mentioning both.

No she can't. A college is different to a University.

If not getting any points, no need to mention.

These are only my opinions. See what others think.

Choosing '2 or more..' will give you much higher points as your spouse is the PA. There is a lot of confusion on this one though - I believe you cannot choose that option because your spouse technically has a single 4 year Canadian Bachelors but others disagree. Your call on this one.

2. WORK HISTORY- regarding
======================
Primary applicant has worked from 2008-2011 in Company A and from 2011-2016 in Company B.

Just B would suffice assuming they have a valid reference letter with all required details. In such a case, A can be completely removed from Work history.

Yes. 4011 is appropriate. Job titles don't matter.

Doesn't matter either way. Whether you remove that experience altogether or keep it in there and provide any document you already have, say, offer letter or appraisal letter (instead of reference letter from employer), you'd still not get any points for that section. Your call.

Hi Avisad
Thanks.

(As suggested earlier by you in earlier posts) With this WES ECA, I dont want to take benefit of "Two or more degree..." & that is why for both degrees (i.e. BA and MA), I have selected CANADIAN EQUIVALENCE as Bachelors only. BUT I ENTERED DETAILS OF BOTH.

So in other words, although I entered details of both my degrees in system (BA- 3 years & MA- 2 years) but I selected CANADIAN EQUIVALENT as Bachelors for both of them.

So at the end, there were two rows in EDUCATION HISTORY.

Did i fill correctly?

Regarding experience of secondary applicant, as it is not giving any points so should I not enter any professional details of secondary applicant at all? will it not make any difference in terms of suitability of my application for canadian government?

The proof of having provided correct information is CRS. Check if you've been allotted the right points.

Makes no difference to this PR application.

Thanks Asivad

I just checked. It seems that I have filled correctly as I have scored:
  • CRS - Human Capital - Level of Education 112
    CRS - Skill Transferability - Education 25 (we both had CLB9+ in all sections but we couldnt score 50 points here)

For secondary applicant, I am not deleting professional details as I can provide joining letters, appraisal letters, relieving letter (But not "letter of reference" => which seem to be not needed for secondary applicant)

One last question Asivad please considering Ontartio Nomination,

My current EE score is 426 and ECA for secondary applicant is awaited from WES (max 2 week time, 2nd week of Feb) which will increase the score by 8 points & my score will reach at 434.

So would you advice me to submit my profile now (without ECA of secondary applicant & thus with 426 points) or wait for another 2 weeks and then submit the strong profile with secondary applicant ECA with 434 points. I am targeting Ontario. ?

My only worry is that if I submit profile now (without secondary applicant ECA & thus with 426 points) & luckily Ontario sends interest in 3-4 days then can I update EE profile for secondary applicant ECA after 2 weeks?

In short, can one do such major updates (secondary applicant ECA) after ontario PT?

Any other expert advises are welcome.

Submit the profile right away so that you can get an invite soon. Update EE profile with spouse ECA when you get it, this won't have any impact on OINP.

Any other expert advises are welcome.

Hi Avisad,
Thanks again. I have one more question.
Although my wife is working at permanent/full capacity at Delhi University but her teaching lectures/ hours are only 18 hours/week.
Thus in case she is asked to provide Letter of reference later, she will get it written that She is permanently/full time employed at University of Delhi.

My question is what should I write in EE form about her number of hours in profession?
is 18 hours not too less? Will not it affect application anyhow?
What should I write there.....How much is the minimum hours that she can mention there in case she is permanently/full-time employed?
Please suggest.
I hope my query is clear to you.
Thanks in advance

Are those her official working hours/week? University/college lecturers frequently have other duties in addition to teaching adding to their overall hours/week. In this case, does your spouse work only 18 hours/week (3.5 hours/day assuming a 5 day week)?

If yes, that's what you need to mention in the application. As CIC considers 30 hours/week to be full-time, 18 hours/week will get only 60% of full-time equivalent.

Yes, Avisad
Although she has other administrative work also apart from teaching 18 hours but like checking exams, preparing lectures, managing student welfare scieties etc....but official statement from her college authoritie is that every professor has to teach minimum 18 hours/ week so she cannot obtain any such letter from her college stating that she works 40 hours/week. Although she can arrange letter saying that she works FULL-time/permanent post (& if required she can get letter stating that she had a work-load of 18 hours lectures/week )

Will not such a letter stating FULL-time/Permanent employee be sufficient? What should she fill then in Express Entry form?
She has a total work experience in this job is 5.5 years.

Let them get the letter mentioning that they work full-time without any hours mentioned in the letter. In the EE profile, enter the approximate number of hours that your wife puts in at University/college on a regular academic work week.

For eg, if your spouse gets into work at 9 AM and leaves work at 5 PM that amounts to 8 hours/day or 40 hours over the course of a 5 day week.

Thanks Asivad,
One more confirmation please.
My wife is working as Assistant Professor at the Department of English in College affiliated to/under University of Delhi

She has done Bachelor of Arts (3 Years) & Master of Arts (2 years) and her Education Credential has been evaluated by WES as Bachelor Degree(3 years) & Bachelors Degree(4 Years) respectively.
The CANADIAN EQUIVALENCE SUMMARY is Bachelors Degree(4 years)

The main duties mentioned under NOC 4011 matches exactly her work responsibilities/ job description (She teaches graduate/under-graduate students in a college affiliated to/under University of Delhi & perform all related activities).
However, the employment requirement of NOC 4011 is PhD or Masters degree.

I request you to please let me know if she can use NOC 4011 keeping in view that her Masters degree has been evaluated as Bachelors(4 years) by WES or if I should use NOC 4021 (job responsibilities matches) since the Employment Requirement for NOC 4021 is Bachelors Degree?

Further for my understanding please, does employment requirement has any role to play to decide NOC?

Employment requirements aren't taken into account while evaluating NOCs. CIC focuses on matching job responsibilities with main duties. Employment requirements definitely come into the picture when one is considering employment in Canada though.

Thanks for your kind reply.
So I assume, for the moment Express Entry profile submission concerns me & for that I only need to concentrates on job responsibilities/ main duties which matches my profile. SO I will use 4011.
Thanks God-sent !

Hi Asivad

I hope your last statement negates below text:

from http://www5.hrsdc.gc.ca/NOC/English/NOC/2011/Tutorial.aspx#15

Employment Requirements

Employment requirements are prerequisites generally needed to enter the occupation. Several types of requirements are listed:

type and level of education including specific subject matter if relevant, starting with the lowest possible requirement for entry into the occupation;
specific training required, including apprenticeship, on-the-job or internal training;
experience in a related occupation, especially for supervisory or managerial occupations;
licences, certificates or affiliations; and/or
other requirements not dependent on formal education, such as athletic abilities, artistic talent or presentation of a portfolio.
While some occupations have very specific employment requirements, others have a wide range of acceptable requirements. The following terminology is used to indicate the level of the requirement:

"Is required" indicates a definite requirement.
"Is usually required" means that the qualification is generally expressed as required by a majority of employers, but not always mandatory.
"May be required" describes requirements that some employers may impose, but are not universal.
Qualities related to personal suitability that may have an impact on employability are not described in the classification. These factors are subjective and determined by employers and assessed during the hiring process.

Thanks in advance
