I'm compiling the list of goods to import when we land tomorrow and curious as to whether or not I have to list the serial number for every single item that has one? Almost all of my husbands tools have serial numbers but most of what I have seen says to lump things together and call it good. Thoughts?

no, serial numbers are only required for electronics, not for tools.

it will be fine listing it as a lot "1 box of tools", $xxx

As CDNPR said.

Serial numbers should be used for high value goods only (typically electronic, laptops, cameras, cellphones etc.).
