Separating Family Application

My husband and I passed the test last July. CIC requested FP on my husband last August and he sent it on Sept. Now he received another letter requesting for conviction certificate ( He is not convicted but had a record). My question is can I just ask CIC to just separate our file? We've been planning on taking vacation down the south so it's better to apply for one tourist US visa than 4. If I can request on separating the application should I do it by mail or just to call them? Thanks.

Did you apply last year or this year? If you did your test last July (meaning in 2014) then request for split but if it is july 2015 then i would suggest to wait. File split may cause further delays it is not going to be easy to get an oath letter immediately. CIC has been lately ok in responding after any evidence document request. So you may be better of sending your husbands record of acquittal or case dismissal.
