Hey guys, I sent it my wife's application about 3 weeks ago and haven't heard back anything. Is this normal?
When can I expect to hear back something?
This is an outland application.

Yes its normal
CIC processing applications as of Sept 15
Current processing time is at 44 days.

As of right now you will most likely not hear anything from CIC from 44 days from the time your app. was received.

What now? I'll tell you what now. Hurry up and wait. The silence sucks. The process sucks. The waiting really sucks. All you do now is wait.

You will hear from CIC when your application starts being processed, then again when a sponsor decision is made, that will be followed by more silence from the visa office abroad. The amount of time depends where your wife's application gets sent.

Not necessarily true, You may only hear from CIC when the sponsor decision is done.
I did not hear anything from CIC until we received our SA for my wife.

Ok so I just checked my records and you're right, with an exception. My application was received Jan 30, 2014, I received an acknowledgement on Feb 26, 2014 giving me my UCI, I was then informed on Feb 27th that I was approved as sponsor. There was no notification of "In Process".

So to the TC, you should receive an acknowledgement message that will contain your UCI, and Application #'s. You likely won't receive that until your application begins processing.

Shouldn't expect a response until the 44 days is elapsed. Even after that, depending on your visa office, you shouldn't expect a response from them for a few months unless they're requesting extra documents.
