Hi Seniors and forum

please will you share information about which stage CIC normally do security/background checks? i mean after submit of documsnts to local visa office/ interview/ medical/ Passport request?

is background checks done for every one or it done random?

hopefully for everyone.
I would think during visa office stage before medicals for those under the old regular application process. Well definitely before interview i guess, because i heard of people getting stamped at interview stage (but that person was CSQ).

Security checks are usually performed after the medicals are received by CIC and they are cleared, it lies between Medicals and PPR.

but how can they know that the docs that one submitted are not fake? as far as I know the medicals are the last step

it could be that medical is the last step on your part, but maybe no on their part. It could be that after you send your medical, they start doing security check and also check whether medical is okay

my opinion is that they do the security checks and verification of the documents you submitted upon receipt of your papers.

they'll make sure that the docs you sent are all authentic. after they have verified your docs are authentic next step woud be medicals.

I know the person who has his visa stamped right next day after they received his medicals. I am too inclined that all the checks are done during those few months that pass between the time they receive the application & ask for the medicals. Why do they need a period of two or three months before sending you a letter requesting medicals?

According to the old application process, security checks are done after the Medicals are received and you have passed it. They don't want to spend their time and money on the people to do security checks and they are not even passed the medicals. That is the reason once you give the medicals, and they are reached in Ottawa, they take anywhere from 2 to 4 months to issue the PPR, reason is security check.

Now to the new rule since it is all fast tracked, they might have did some exceptions, however they will only do security checks on people who pass their medical exam, once again, the new rules may have some exceptions I am not sure.
