Hello,

I have a question about treated syphilis. I was diagnosed with syphilis years ago and treated successfully. In all my followups rpr/vdrl are negative (including the one for medicals for Canada). I provided proofs of my previous treatment and several past results of followups I did where I am negative.

However, the doctor did an FTA-ABS wich is not required by Canada unless the RPS or the VDRL are positive (which mine are not). The problem is that the FTA-ABS test remains positive for life although you have been successfully treated (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FTA-ABS). I am not sure if the doctor will send to Canada these tests... I was honest when they asked about previous std's during the examination, so I don't see any issues.

I am by no means unhealthy or present a threat to Canada or the health care system since Syphilis is extremely easy to cure and I am cured.

That being said, do you think I will run into problems?

Thanks!

Any responses? Btw, I found in manual OP15 that you only get medical surveillance.

Anyone agrees?

Thanks

No comments? ::) Has anyone read something about this?

Thanks!
