My spouse just received a letter from CIC Sydney requesting for a photocopy of all passport/travel document used to enter Canada. Unfortunately, when she entered Canada in 2007 immigration officer forgot to stamp her in. Please what do we do?

Here is her timeline

1.We received your application for Canadian citizenship (grant of citizenship) on May 9, 2014.

2.We sent you a letter acknowledging receipt of your application(s), and a study book called Discover Canada on May 9, 2014. Please consider delays in mail delivery before contacting us.

3.We started processing your application on September 25, 2014.

4.We sent you a letter on September 25, 2014. If you have not yet provided the information or the requested documents, please do so as soon as possible. Please wait until you receive the letter before sending us additional information, as the letter will outline all information that is required. Please consider delays in mail delivery before contacting us.

I guess your spouse still has the landing paper. Send a copy of it even if you already did, copies of all pages of passport used to enter Canada and add a cover letter explaining what happened when she landed ( didn't stamp pport.)

Thanks all.

In fact here is the specific message.

Entry Passport
"Send us a photocopy of all pages of your passport/travel document used to enter Canada on 2007-11-30."

The date was hand written; it seems they have a template for this request.

I don't see any issue in this regard .I have checked my passport and I didn't see any stamp on my passport either .The only thing what the IO did was crossing out the visa and circling a section with a pen . No stamp at all .If you do not find even any crossing out of your visa , just explain it in a cover letter alongwith sending copies of all pages of PP and her landing paper. Don't forget to get translated any non-english stamps .

Good luck!

Any more inputs? Msafiri or PMM - any comments/suggestions on what to do?
1. Did you submit a biographical page of the passport covering 4 years prior to the application date?
2. Are you using Non Permanent Resident Time in this application to get to 1095 days of actual physical presence?

Count yourself lucky that CIC did not send the whole package back!

As someone who has very few stamps in her passport despite many border crossings, I don't see any problem here. They did not ask for a copy of the (non-existant) passport stamp from 2007-11-30. They asked for a copy of the passport used. Just give them the photocopy of all pages of the passport. Presumably you've already provided a copy of the landing docs, etc.

Your wife is not responsible and won't be punished for the CBSA guard's decision not to stamp the passport. (The CBSA does not always stamp passports and the CIC doesn't expect them to.)

Just do what they asked. Provide a copy of the passport. It'll be fine.

Good luck.

Thanks. In addition to the photocopy of all pages of her passport, do you think a letter stating that the passport wasn't stamp is required?
