I would really appreciate any insight or feedback on my situation:

I have been in Canada for 7 years now. First as a student and after graduation from a Canadian university/now working on a post graduate work permit expiring in 2012.

I applied under FSW2 on October 22nd, got my PER on February 16th and my E-cas status reads received by visa office.

Well, I just got accepted into grad school, in the same city where I currently live in Canada, to start my Masters degree in September. This would mean that I have to apply for a study permit. So I have a few questions:

1) Can I keep my PGWP and get a study permit at the same time?
2) Will getting a study permit and starting grad school in September have an impact on my PR application? I applied under FSW2 with arranged employment from my current employer.

My visa office is Buffalo, which is apparently notorious for longer processing times. If my PR case is not finalized by September, what are my options?

PLEASE give me your feedback!

Much appreciated.

(1) You may hold more than one permit at the same time. Just apply for a study permit for your new program, and hold on to your work permit. Your opoen work permit will give you the ability to work off campus while studying. For example, prior to becoming a P.R., I held concurrently a study permit, an Off-Campus Work Permit, and a work permit under NAFTA.

(2) Leaving your job and studying may have an impact since you are supposed to have the job when you land as a P.R. In my case, I originally applied for P.R. under FSW 2, but I was laid off in the middle of the P.R. process. Of course, I informed the visa office of this change. When I landed as a P.R., my COPR indicated that I was processed under FSW 3.

In any case, you must inform Buffalo of leaving your work since that would be a material change to your circumstances for immigration purposes.
