Hi,
I have two questions about my Seneca college application.
[1] I applied to Seneca college for 'computer programmer' program for may 2015 intake. After 43 days they sent me an email saying that i need to give an on paper written exam at the school where i studied 12th.(and it's not IELTS. I already gave it and got 7 overall bands.(8,8,6.5,6)) to be considered for the program. when they sent me this email, it was only 20 days left for the visa application deadline. they also told me that the papers of that exam should only be couriered to them and no other means of communication will be accepted. the other thing they said was they will take at least 3 weeks to access the test. so my question is, is this exam and everything normal for all applications??
[2] As there was no time to give that test and all, i sent them an email to cancel that application and then make it for sept.2015. the first choice of program was 'computer programmer' and second was 'computer networking and technical support'. they also sent me a confirmation email that my application as been updated as requested. but approx. one month later i.e on 14th April i got another email that my application for THE SECOND CHOICE has been rejected bcoz it was already full when they processed my application. So the question is what happened to the first choice? will it be processed separately or it is also rejected?
please help.......... ??? :( :-[ ;)

1. As far as I've heard, Seneca college conducts an exam which includes subjects such as English, maths and logical reasoning and this exam is conducted in "Seneca college" by "Seneca college" itself.
I didn't understand what you said about the exam part and then sending it to the college. lol. Seriously? :P

2. As they were specific regarding the second program, so I think you should contact them and raise a concern.

Curious to know : Applying by yourself or a consultant?

Hi, thanks for your reply.
About the exam part, what I said before is exactly what they told me in email,as well as once on phone when I contacted them.I also thought same as you that's why I contacted them on phone and they confirmed it.and one more shocking thing was what they told in this email :
[Hello Bhavya, we have your IELTS, but the test I'm referring to is another required English test. However, here's something to think about since time is of the essence: This test is NOT required for September's intake and beyond, it's going to be abolished. If you felt it would be easier to aim for September, we could do that. This English test is on paper that must be couriered overseas. If you come in September, there is still a test, but one specific to the program and it can be emailed rather than couriered. Hope I haven't confused you too much! ]

the first time i applied for may 2015 intake was through consultant but after that i did it mmyself for the september intake.

any idea about my 2nd question??

I hope everything goes out well with you...
me too!!! :)

I also applied to centennial college (software engineering technician) and humber (1.computer programmer, 2. computer and networking support) today, in case anything goes wrong with the seneca application. any ideas which is better in terms of education, location, etc

The programs you selected with Humber are much better. Both colleges are reputed and you'll find tons of Indians at both locations.
I wanted to go to Centennial as I had someone known there but couldn't.

Btw Are all these 2 year programs?

YUP. all of them are 2 years post-secondary diploma programs.

The reason you are probably being asked to give the exam is because you are applying for the "Computer Programmer" program. For example, they do it for DAD program:

https://scs.senecac.on.ca/page/admissions-fees#cpd

Are you already accepted into the program? Be advised that the admission to Seneca is very competitive in SCS department.

Assuming you to be a good student, why not masters? :P
haha bcoz I'm 18 and just completed 12th and none of the courses I applied to are post graduate.
