Hello all.

So I was hired under Semi-skilled worker in a hotel. But but I have a few doubts on the requirements for the work permit.

I got an email regarding my application for a canadian temp visa:
"...A decision has been made on your application. We require your passport to finalize processing your application.." I'm pretty sure this means my visa was approved. Plus my employer (whos done this a few times told me "That is excellent news! Usually when they request your passport it is so they can put the travel visa in it..."

Here are my doubts or what I need help with:

*Will I need a Medical Exam as Front Desk Clerk?
*As soon as I get my passport back (assuming it was approved) can I then fly to canada and get a work permit at POE or do I need to do it online or at an embassy?
*Also, I can't seem to find how much money I need (proof of funds). I was told as semi-skilled worker I only need to prove I have a job offer, LMO and a few other documents (which I do have). But To be safe Im taking CAD$500. Is this enough or will I encounter issues, how much is recommended?

Also any guidance or things I should know from someone whos done this would be great.

Thank you all :D

Congrats in advance tol!
You were hired as semi skilled worker
1) you dont need to have another medical, its already done in st. Lukes philippines
2) you will be given your WP at the port of entry
3) you are required for any proof of fund , that
Is only for permanent resident applications except if you have arranged employment so you dont have to worry about the money you are going to bring. I suggest bring canadian dollars that you need for all your initial expenses for your house rent, food , transpo and extra allowance until you get your 1st pay cheque. Hope this helps bro!

mate, i think u already done with ur Med right (1 of the visa app requirmnt) coz im an RA and we have some FO in our group where they did med exam as well.
2nd: work permit will be issued by canadian immigration officer normally vancouver... well about flying... u can do that after u already finish the POEA requirements like PDOS, OEC & POLO etc.
3rd: you dont have to show any bank account or something. What the employer gave u like contract & LMO is enough to show the IO. about pocket money 500Cad$ would be enough if the employer will be assiting u to find a decent accommodatn which i think u have to pay for rent every month. ;D so update ur employer about the status mo to arrange naman ung flight details mo which u will get fm them.... hope this would help God Bless

@ Serafin1 and iamvinz, Thank you both for your replies. This info really helped. The only thing is I'v never been asked for a medical exam, I didnt think I needed one as a front desk clerk and also Im from Mexico and I thought I was exempt from a Medical. I will ask my employer if I should get one.

If I may Id like to ask y'all another question: I don't have assets so I think this is my main concern at this moment. How can I convince CIC agents I will leave the country after my employment is up (even though I may apply for Alberta PNP if I feel Canada is for me ). The only thing I can think about is telling them I have a girlfriend in the US I plan to merry soon (this is true).

As far as the time line not sure what info y'all need but here is what I got. Let me know if Im missing something:

Employer applied for LMO on June 26th
Got a possitive LMO on July 2nd
Applied & paid online application. July 4th
Received a request for my passport. Sep 4th
Sent Passport to embassy Sept 5th
Received by embassy Sept 6th
Currently awaiting for my passport to comeback
