Self employment and PR card

Hi,
I am an American citizen still living in America and would like to immigrate to Canada. I was wondering, if working as a party consultant (one of those people who help people host party's to sell items) is considered self employment in the eyes of the CIC. My occupation doesn't fall anywhere in the semi-skilled category and I'm not sure if there is any other immigration category I fall under. I want to live with my Canadian boyfriend, but I don't want to not be bringing in any kind of income and I don't know how I would get a work visa. long story short, if I moved to Canada and got a job as a party consultant, would I qualify for a PR card as self-employed.
