Hi,

For the last 1 month, I am struggling to find out the answer to file up my immigration either from consultant or self. I found this forum very helpful and this added a positive point for self applying.

I have visited number of consultant and found their professionalism. Definitely applying from consultant makes difference but the question is how much and what. But this does imply that self applying is either wrong. Consultant is charging around $2500 to $3000 which is worth of money for any one, especially for job level people.

Any body likes to share their experience or information for self applying and applying through consultant.

Hi Rizwan,
consultant can do nothing with your case but yes only he can get advantage while you dont have enough knowlage and thats how they earns thousands $ whole month you spent finding out the answer , i advise you to spend just one week on this website http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/index.asp read carefully and get back to this forum if you have further questions in few weeks you will know enough related with immigration , as you told 2500$ 3000$ is consultant fee then its only waste of money because its too much money , here are many people who can give you quick reply everyday better do it by your self ,

Job Offer........
Pre-Assessed..
If you have the time to study the guide doing it yourself will be very ok but if your are the busy type that hardly has time then a rep will do. Note that reps will not make thing faster nor add any point but they will bring their professionalism into play in handling and packaging.
The choice is yours.

Oloye is absoloutely right. Consultants are nothing but a middle man. Infact I personally think a lot of time is wasted if applied through consultant.

1-Client send the docs to consultant, they check, they make copies, forward to embassy.
2-Embassy has questionm they contact consultant, conultant contacts you and ask for the req. docs by embassy. (repeat step 1)

This does waste a lot of time, you can do everything on your own and embassy will contact you directly. On the other hand, if you are a busy person and want things to be professionally done then go for a consultant.

Presentation is an important factor in any walk of life. GOOD LUCK with your immi process!

Hi there,

I was going to use a lawyer initially as I had no idea where to start and felt quite daunted by it all. But as mentioned by maroraza, do some research on www.cic.gc.ca and ask questions on this forum (it really is a God send as the people are really helpful in sharing their experiences).
I'm now really enjoying finding out more and more information about the process etc etc.

Best of luck

Here is the rule of thumb, if you qualify for the Skilled worker category, you should be completly capable of doing it your self. I just as you did looked up lawyers etc.. and after they told me their fees, I was like F that... ! it took me a solid week to get everything together (other than the FBI prints) and no problem!
