Sorry if I'm late on this topic

For people who qualify in more than 1 stream (For myself, i'm qualify in both FSW & CEC), do we get to choose which stream to make actual application if an ITA is issued? Or the ITA is specific on the stream upon issue? Anyone with ITA can you give some insights?

I remember in a press conference or something, the CIC spokesperson mentioned they want to give people who qualify in both stream a choice so I'm interested to see what have they actually done.

Thanks!

As far as we can tell, you don't get to choose. The uncertainty over what, exactly, CIC needs to see for each type of application has led to many people - some of whom actually declined their invitations to apply - lowering the amount of funds they have, denying they have jobs on work permits other than LMIA even when they do, and leaving their foreign work experience off their EE applications in hopes of qualifying only for CEC, which has the lower threshold for qualifying.

I have heard of one person who, informed that she didn't actually qualify for the FSW invitation she had been issued, was then issued a CEC one the same day. But that's just one person. Others have been successful in tailoring their applications after refusing FSW so that they have been invited under CEC.

I am braving it out with an FSW invitation because I refuse to believe that CIC will actually ignore that I am making a good salary in Canada, in favor of insisting I bring a lesser amount in "settlement funds" with me. Yet, that is exactly what CIC's own pages say they will do. I understand why people are making the choices they are making - I just insist on believing Canada is smarter than that, and if it's not - do I really want to stay?

Is the difference between FSW and CEC mainly about showing funds??

1) being NOC O,A, or B with one year or more experience in jobs in that category (any country), 2) funds - at least it seems so so far, and 3) you get points for foreign work experience and work experience of longer duration, which must be documented quite carefully in reference letters to be sure it fits its NOC classification. It's a royal pain, but since I had everything I decided to go ahead with it, though I also would have preferred CEC. I was not willing to lie about my circumstances on my EE profile to get a CEC nomination, however!

Thanks @dobes

The only after-graduation work I have is the one I am working here in Canada. So i'm convinced CEC is more for me, but I guess I have put fund available more than LICO so it also gave me eligiblity in FSW. I guess in my case (since I don't have foreign work to report) it doesn't make a whole lot of difference between two streams.

I was also thinking about competition between applicants (ratio between possible eligible applicants and application target of the year) but both are under same umbrella of CRS so it wouldn't matter unless a program-specific draw comes up.

if you have two qualification like Degree and Masters. Apply ECA status to highest qualification only.
This will help you in getting rid of FSW. Once you recieve ITA upload ECA docs.

** for FSW ECA is mandatory for all degrees.
This is even better than applying 0 to funds available.
