I claimed for Refugee in Cic Lacolle Office in 2012 and the CBSA Officer seized my passport. I became a permanent resident of Canada but they didn't return my seized documents. I have the notice of seizure and wondering how to get back my passport? any help would be appreciated.

Thank you in advance!

I am also on the same boat. 8 weeks have been passed but still no update about seized passport and PR card. Immigration officer told me during interview that they will inform me once they get my passport from another immigration office. Really frustrating.

Anybody knows the procedure to get back seized passport. If yes please share your valuable advice.

I am a protected person and waiting for my PR. I asked my lawyer once if I could get my passport back and he said it is better if I dont ask for it until I get citizenship here!

Thank you for your reply. But this is your document and you can request any time as and CIC is not entitle to keep this document after having PR. Some people has got passport right after approval from Refugee board. Immigration officer told me during landing interview that we will inform you once we get your passport from another immigration centre.

Really I am confused.

Job Offer........
Pre-Assessed..
Does it also apply for applicants under Humanitarian and compassionate grounds (H&C)?
Do they have to surrender their passport?

You have to solve your assault charges first. You should be dealing with a lawyer

Not only would you have the other issue to deal with , you’d also be filing a false police report
And if you’re not planning on running from your charges , what’s the hurry in getting a new passport?
No one here is going to assist you with doing something illegal aka filing a false police report , absconding from your charges
You have a lawyer ask them about doing something illegal, you’re paying them

No one here will help you escape your charges. Pay for a lawyer to do that.

You do realize that you will most likely get flagged at the airport due to your charges. It is time to consult a lawyer.
