Hello.

My wife and I have started exploring the process of immigration and are uncertain about a best path. Here are a few specifics:

We are interested in PEI.

Me: Age 43 with Bachelors and Masters degree and been working for 15 years in professional/management type job.

Wife: Age 34 with Bachelors Degree. She worked for 10 years as a Marketing Director, but has been sort of an independent marketing consultant over the last year while she manages a mural painting business. She has been offered a position that she could do remotely (anywhere) that would meet the minimum salary for self-employed, but I was not sure if the offer of self-employment would be applicable since it is from a company in the US.

I believe we both have strong English skills, though have not officially tested yet.

I am trying to determine if we are best to seek EE with both of us submitting a separate application or if there is anything that we could do with her art skills or possibly self-employment offer.

I am sure I am missing details, but again we are very new to this process.

Thank you!

I would recommend you join the Express Entry section of the forum. Being from the US really doesn't change the process you have to follow - it's the same as for everyone else. I would recommend you take the language test as soon as you can and also get your education officially assessed. Make sure you study for the language test and understand the marking structure. Native English language speakers often think they don't have to study or understand how marks are awarded and end up with low scores. You want as high a score as possible.

The self-employment likely won't be of any help. For example, this won't qualify you for the self-employment stream. That immigration stream has very specific requirements and is only open for very specific roles. To qualify as an artist through the self-employment stream, someone needs to be at a world class level (i.e. be internationally recognized). Doesn't sound like that fits what you are describing.

I am Arun Vishwanathan and I paid Rs. 70,000 to Akkam Immigration in 2016 for my Canada Immigration. At the time of payment everything was fine and I was qualified alongwith my IELTS score and everything. After 10 months of the payment I followed up with them and they said that you are not qualified as you don't have a degree from recognised university. How the hell one can be qualified at the time of payment and becomes not qualified after 10 months. They have really no knowledge of immigration or anything like that. They are just a bunch of young idiots pooled together to fool people like me. Now when I asked them to refund my money they blatantly denied to refund it. I have lodged an FIR in police against them. And I am writing here to aware people not to get trapped with this fake company called Akkam Immigration. They have two websites Akkam Immigration
