Seeking Guidance on Refugee Claim and Previous Immigration Issues

Hello everyone,

I’m seeking advice regarding my current immigration situation in Canada. Here’s a brief overview:

• I’m a refugee claimant with my claim submitted in September 2024 (application number starts with L400). My case has been referred to the IRB, and I’ve received my work permit and confirmation of referral.

• I also hold a valid study permit, which was extended in August 2024 (application number starts with F315) and is valid until March 31, 2025.

• Recently, I came across old documents related to a Departure Order issued before my refugee claim (application number starts with N001). I believe it may have been issued due to a misunderstanding or compliance check at the time.

Currently, I’m preparing for my IRB hearing, and I want to ensure that these previous documents don’t create any issues or confusion.

My Questions:

1. Do I need to formally address the Departure Order now, or is it automatically suspended due to my active refugee claim?

2. Could the old Departure Order cause complications during my IRB hearing?

3. Is there anything specific I should prepare or clarify before my hearing to ensure everything is aligned?

I’d appreciate any guidance or suggestions from those who’ve experienced similar situations or have knowledge of immigration processes. Thank you for your time!
