Hello,
I am seeking for advise on how can i apply for pr status and eventually to be a proud citizen of Canada.
I am a syrian citizen that fled my country during the conflict to Malaysia hoping for a better opportunity for myself and my family. I am the eldest of 3 sibling and had to take the responsibility after my father pass away and decided to go to malaysia in the year 2016 and find work so that i could take care of my mother and my youngest sibling now age 15. My sister at the time was already married and live malaysia.
However after 3 years i realise that i am actually stuck in this country because if i apply for a unicef refugee i can stay but are not allowed to work which baffles me. And briefly they give a special pr status for syrian citizen but as i tried to apply i was told they no longer have that program due to changes of government after the general election 2018.
I came to malaysia at the age 16 on my own for a better future and it is my burden to bear to provide for my mum and sibling as the eldest son. I am stuck here.
I am a trained barber and have been working in various barber shop in malaysia for 3 years now at a minimum wage of rm 40 - 75. This barely cover my living cost and save as much as i can to sent for my family as often as i am able.
But at all times at a risk of deportation because i am overstay although i am in this situation after the program offered to Syrian was stop the minute the ruling party lost the election.
My dream to study, to better my life and provide for my mum and ensure my brother to complete his study as mine was cut short after my father departed.
There is no opportunity for me either to go back to school or working and improved my conditions. My status in this country left me exposed to an opportunist boss who hired me and denied my salary knowing i don't dare to do anything. I am unable to do anything. If caught by local authorities i am likely to be given option of to bribe them or get deported to syria which means my family income are gone.
Can someone please help? Please...
Ali
