My fiancee and I are getting married later this year, but would like to start the process for immigration. She could also apply under the FSW application, but we believe it could be quicker to go through the family sponsorship.
I am canadian and living in the Toronto area, she is in Jamaica.

So looking for any advice on what the best process is ?

Should we use an immigration consultant (see pricey) ?

use the spousal sponsorship thread, you should be able to get someone to answer your questions correctly.
However, you can't sponsor your fiancee, you have to be either married or common-law, which you're not so you have to wait till you get married or she can apply for a visitor visa if you want to live together in canada.
As for immigration consultant or lawyer, unless you have a complicated case, or it is hard for you to prove the genuinely of your relationship than its a good idea to get one. Otherwise not worth it since their fees are around 3k.
Good luck

I'm not sure the speed for FSW apps, but you should check the Kingston-Jamaica thread to see how long it is currently taking applications there through family/spousal class. CIC is showing 18 months but in most cases they are done much quicker.

Note you will not be able to send in application under spousal class, until after you get married and after you receive the marriage certificate. Though you can begin collecting proofs and putting together the application now.

As for consultant, for a basic spousal case with no big red flags I would NOT recommend. You will end up spending around $2000 or more to fill out forms and get questions answered, that you can get answered for free on this site. Also from what i've read here, lots of consultants are quite bad and can actually slow down your process or give you wrong information (especially the cheaper ones). Unless there is a specific reason you need one, most people do the application on their own.

If she could apply under FSW, you should aim for that first. I understand the window will open next month. I'm sure it will be filled up very quickly, for some categories, could be filled up in a matter of days (or a day!)

You should read through this forum, use your good judgement. You will be fine. Good luck.
