Seeking Advice on TRV Application Process

Hello everyone,

I need some guidance on our TRV situation.

Background: My spouse and I applied for Temporary Resident Visas (TRVs) in March, based on our work permits. By October, we still hadn’t received our TRVs, but I was granted Permanent Residency (PR) during this time.

I’m wondering about the best approach:
  1. Should I cancel my own TRV application and allow my spouse to continue with the current application?
  2. Alternatively, should we withdraw both applications and have my spouse apply for her own TRV from within Canada, based on her spousal work permit? If she reapplies, could she choose “worker” as the reason for her TRV?
  3. Or would it be better for me to apply for spousal sponsorship first and then have her apply for a TRV?


Any advice or similar experiences would be very helpful. Thank you!
