Hi, I got married to my wife last July.

I haven't filed for spousal yet but I am doing so this month. I have to file for an extended visitors stay ( From USA ) today.

I came across a question on the extension asking if I ever overstayed my duration and I have... I'd like to lie and say no but I know they will see my visits as well as my duration...

Will this deny my application? Should I for go this visa extension and just file for spousal? As far as I am aware I had to do both.

Hi,
Don't lie about overstayed visit or duration. It is not always a reason for denial. They may ask for some valid reason for your overstay. Send a cover letter stating the reason or series of events that lead to your overstay. Provide as many evidence for the events.
I assume your wife is a PR or citizen. Please proceed with your spousal sponsor ASAP. You need not become a PR but can decide not to when they approve and ask you to land. Do not delay this process. This could be a reason for denial as they may ask why you have not applied for PR and what is your long term I tention
