Hi. I came to Canada as an international student. My post-grad open work permit expired in Feb 2022. Therefore, I'm eligible for this 18-month open work permit extension. I already received the email from IRCC in Aug 2022 saying that I'm eligible to work in the interim [no mention of address confirmation or when they would be sending me an updated open work permit]
Recently, I submitted my PR application. So right now I'm also eligible for this bridge open work permit.
I've been working for my employer for more than a year - initially on PGWP, but from Feb 2022 to now/onward, I'm on a closed work permit sponsored by my employer (LMIA was positive/approved).
Now, I want to change my job. I'm not entirely sure how that works, given I'm currently on a closed work permit. Can I start the new job as soon as I submit my application for one of the 2 open work permit programs that I'm eligible for? Do I have to wait until I receive the approval before starting to work at the new job? Could mid-October be an OK start date, given how IRCC said they would be sending out the extended PGWP in mid-October?
