Yes they can ask to see proof that you can afford second year tuition. How much that is...don’t know. If your second year starts in September they may want to know how you will survive for 4-5 months if you can’t find a part-time job.

Didn’t say that but if you are entering during the summer break, visa officers may ask whether you have paid 2nd year tuition or at least show funds that you can afford your studies. Do you have a job offer for the summer? If so show that as it proves you will be making income until September.
