Hi There,
I'm an unfortunate victim of the Bill C-37 "2nd generation born abroad", whereby my daughter born abroad in 2016 wasn't considered a Canadian citizen since I too was born abroad, despite having a long lineage of Canadian ancestors. Anyway, that's been discussed to death and it is what it is and I'm over it. We sponsored her, got her PR last year, and applied for citizenship in August. My question is: has anyone here in the same scenario gone through the sponsorship-to-PR-to-citizenship application process, and, if so, how long did the citizenship part of the process take? I suppose it won't be treated any differently than a normal "application for citizenship for a minor", so am also keen to hear people's experiences there. Are they typically any faster than the normal adult citizenship application (since there isn't a residency requirement to be checked out) or are we still likely to be looking at a full year or more?
Thanks for any experiences that can be shared. Much appreciated.
