Hey everyone i hope you are all doing well.
I have a few questions i hope to get some clarity on. I am in the process of helping my husbands niece come to Canada (Quebec) to study. We will be financially supporting her throughout her stay ( housing, food, transportation etc). we will have a 10k GIC and her first year of tuition paid and her father will also be contributing financially but does not have alot of finances to show. My first question is how much money should we show to the visa officer? Is the first year tuition and 10k enough? she is going to be doing an 1800h course (2 years) and it will cost approx 24k total. Does showing our salaries help or do i need to show my investments ? We have about 20k in accessible investments ( 10k in my name and 10k in his) but most of our money is tied up in large real estate investments ( we own several rental apartment buildings) These properties bring in income but there isnt much left as profit after the expenses are deducted. My husband makes around 85k and i around 100k per year. Her father will also be supporting her but i know his income is difficult to show and he may not have much in his account ( i cannot verify but i think alot is cash and his pays are not regular) . is it ok to have both my husband and her father sign an affidavit of support? can my husband and i sign one together as our finances are combined? I know finances is an important aspect of the application so i want it to be solid.
She is only 19 years old and has not worked yet so i suppose we will not be showing her account at all?
Also she studied some science courses in hopes to get into medical school but will now be studying residential and commercial drafting. Do you think it will be a problem to have the different types of programs? her science courses were more of a prep course then a degree. She is now studying hotel management but we dont need to mention this if it will make the application worse as she only started in January.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. She is such a smart and hard working young woman and we want the absolute best for her. I would feel terrible if her visa is rejected.
Thanks!!!
