Hi!
My friend has applied for SDS Visa, he was/is pursuing Aviation ( Commercial Pilot's License ) from Insignia College in BC. He got a refusal with the following message:

The purpose of your visit to Canada is not consistent with a temporary stay given the details you have provided in your application.

Profile
10th : 9.4
12th : 78%
Undergrad: 7.01 GPA/ 10 ( Graduated with a degree in EnTC from Symbiosis Pune )
IELTS : Lowest Band 6, Overall 6.5

Finished Undergrad in 2021, passed the DCGA exams in India.
SOP clearly mentioned the transition from a Bachelor's to Aviation as a passionate goal and plans to return to home country after his courses, since he specifically chose a course that is DCGA approved, so that he can get an Indian flying license

Financial : showed 130k CAD with a sponsorship letter from his dad, already paid 1yr tuition + 10k GIC

Timeline
Applied 2nd June
Biometrics 7th June
Medical Update 31st August
Refusal 1st September

Next Steps

1: Applying for SDS is a no-go bc there is no point of wasting 3-4 months
2: Apply for Non-SDS and hope it goes a little faster, since it is processed locally
3: We are planning on traveling to South Africa in a few days, and was wondering if applying from there ( legal status, visitor visa) would be any beneficial/faster?
4: Officer's notes ( Again waiting for 30-45 days looks like a waste of time ).

P.S : Also trying to apply for an F-1 Visa ( USA ), does anyone has any experience on that? Will a Canadian student visa refusal be a negative point ?

Need to order GCMS notes because reason for refusal can mean anything (program irrelevant, no career progression, funds etc.) so don’t apply again if not changing anything. He needs to show education and career progression. He has no work experience or education in the aviation field. Saying it is a “passionate” goal is not a reason. He can take the program in India. Don’t say it is cheaper in Canada, everyone does. At least attend a public DLI for aviation like Seneca.

If applying for a US visa, he must declare the Canadian refusal.
